Beach house names: 100 ideas for your vacation rental
Fifty-six beach house names, then lake houses and mountain cabins. The name sits in a title Airbnb keeps under 50 characters, next to one amenity guests filter on.

A beach house name does two jobs. It gets your listing saved and remembered. It also gives repeat guests something to type into Google when they want to come back without the platform. The hundred names below are original and grouped by style, sized to fit Airbnb's 50-character title next to one amenity.
Hosts name houses for the same reason restaurants do. A week at "Spindrift Cottage" gets told to friends by name. A week at "Oceanfront 3BR Condo" gets told as "that place we found on Airbnb", and the next booking goes to whoever ranks that day.
Beach house names
Fifty-six names in four registers. Pick the register before the name: a family house and a design rental do not sell the same week.
Wordplay that still reads as a house
Puns age fast on a listing, so these keep a real noun in them. The guest smiles once and still knows what the place is.
- Tide and Seek
- The Salt Margin
- Low Tide Society
- Second Wind
- Sandbar None
- Current Affairs Cottage
- Shore Leave House
- Slack Tide
- The Long Weekend
- Kelp Wanted
- Ebb Tide Annex
- Fair Winds Cottage
- Driftwood Ledger
- Half Past High Tide
Chic and understated
Two to three words, no adjective, a material or a line of the landscape. These suit a rental that sells on photography and linen.
- The Salt House
- Dune Line
- Lighthouse Row
- White Pelican House
- Sea Glass Studio
- The Tideline
- Marram House
- Linen and Salt
- Pale Sand House
- Harbor Lane Residence
- The Oyster Loft
- North Shore Atelier
- Dune Grass Villa
- Cape Light House
Coastal vocabulary
Birds, grasses and harbor words that most guests know. Few listings use them. Check that the bird or the plant lives on your stretch of coast before you borrow it.
- Spindrift Cottage
- The Sandpiper Perch
- Kittiwake House
- Sea Oat Bungalow
- Mooring Cottage
- Tern Point
- Breakwater House
- The Jetty Cottage
- Saltmarsh Retreat
- Pelican Pier House
- Osprey Dune House
- Boardwalk Bungalow
- Starfish Landing
- Gull Rock Cottage
Family names
For a house that sleeps ten and sells to reunions. The name promises bunk beds and a long table, which is what that guest is filtering for.
- Grandpa's Boathouse
- The Cousins' Cove
- Nana's Beach Porch
- Three Sisters by the Sea
- The Family Tideboard
- Sandy Feet Welcome House
- Camp Saltwater
- The Kids' Table Beach House
- Bunk Room Beach Cottage
- Shell Collectors' Cottage
- Sunday Pancakes Beach House
- Low Tide Treasure House
- Flip-Flop Lane
- The Beach Bunkhouse
If the house is not listed yet, the name comes after the permit and the numbers. Our guide to starting an Airbnb puts those steps in order.
Lake house names
A lake sells quiet and water you can walk into. The names that work carry one of those two, or the bird that lives there.
- Loon Call Cottage
- Still Water Lodge
- Dockside Lantern
- The Boathouse Loft
- Morning Mist Cabin
- Canoe Rack Cottage
- Pine Reflection House
- Mallard Point
- Birch Shore Lodge
- Minnow Bay House
- Glassy Cove Cabin
- Paddleboard Landing
- Dragonfly Dock House
- The Lake Ledger
- Cattail Cottage
- Heron Shallows
A lake house also needs towels for the dock and a second set of everything that gets wet. The Airbnb essentials checklist lists what guests expect before they write the review.
Cabin names
Cabin guests book the smell of woodsmoke. Wood, tools and fire are the nouns to reach for. A single surprising one is enough.
- Split Rail Cabin
- Woodsmoke Hollow
- The Whittler's Cabin
- Larkspur Lodge
- Lantern Creek Cabin
- Two Pines Cabin
- The Tin Roof Hideout
- Fern Hollow Cabin
- Cedar Sap Cabin
- Mossy Stump Lodge
- Quiet Timber
- The Owl Loft
- Creekstone Cabin
- Flannel Hollow
- Hickory Smoke Cabin
- Trailhead Bunk
A cabin is where a printed binder still earns its place, because the signal often does not. Our printable welcome binder carries the cabin's name on its cover, and the hosting tips that move ratings cover the rest of the stay.
Mountain house names
Altitude, snow and the words skiers use. A mountain name also has a practical job: guests who are told "turn at the Switchback Chalet sign" find a hidden driveway at night.
- Ridgeline Perch
- Snowmelt Chalet
- The Alpenglow House
- High Meadow Lodge
- Timberline Loft
- Granite Saddle House
- Elk Trace Lodge
- Switchback Chalet
- The Summit Porch
- Aspen Bend House
- Cloud Ledge Cabin
- Boulder Field Retreat
- Pinecone Pass House
- Powder Day Chalet
- Stargazer Ridge
- Treeline Hideaway
Put the name and the sign in your arrival message. The check-in instructions generator writes one with the directions, the code and the name of the house in the first line.
Why a unique name helps your listing get found
The name lives in your listing title, and Airbnb has published how it treats that title. Its Resource Center asks hosts to "try to use fewer than 50 characters", because longer titles are shortened in search results to fit smaller screens. It also asks for no emojis, no repeated symbols and no all caps. A two-word name leaves about thirty characters for the one thing guests filter on.
That one thing should be concrete. Our free listing analyzer scores the words of a title against two lists.
- Rewarded: waterfront, beach, lake, mountain, hot tub, walk to, steps from, fireplace, rooftop.
- Marked down: cozy, cute, beautiful, charming, lovely, amazing, stunning, gorgeous, perfect.
The second list describes thousands of listings and none in particular. "Spindrift Cottage, hot tub, steps from the beach" runs 47 characters and passes both rules.
What the name does not do is rank you. Airbnb's help center lists what orders its search results.
- Quality, read from ratings and reviews.
- Popularity, measured by wishlist saves, bookings and messages.
- Price, against comparable listings in the area.
- Location.
On the host side it names six levers: availability, photos, amenities, response time, Instant Book and the Superhost criteria. The title is not on that list. A name earns clicks and saves. A listing guests save feeds one of the signals Airbnb does name. Our guide to getting more Airbnb bookings works through those signals one by one.
Outside Airbnb, the name is the whole game. A guest who had a good week types "Spindrift Cottage" into Google. The search lands on your page, your guidebook and your direct booking link. A guest who had a good week at a listing with no name searches "beach house Outer Banks" and finds your competitors. Our guide to turning platform guests into direct customers builds on that search, and the digital guidebook is where the name gets repeated during the stay. The way a guidebook feeds reviews, and reviews feed visibility, is laid out in our piece on the guidebook as a visibility tool.
How to choose your vacation rental name
- Search the name before you fall for it. Type it into Airbnb and Vrbo for your town, then into Google with the town's name. A neighbor already using it takes the direct bookings you wanted. The USPTO's free trademark search shows whether a company already claims the words.
- Say it out loud, then spell it to someone who has not read it. A name a guest cannot spell cannot be searched or passed on. "Kittiwake House" survives the test, "Whelk Come Inn" does not.
- Write the full title and count to 50. Name, comma, one concrete amenity. If the amenity does not fit, shorten the name, not the amenity.
- Check it against your photos. "Alpenglow" above a listing with no mountain view promises something the stay will not deliver, and the review will say so.
- Put it everywhere the guest looks. The cover of the guidebook, the Wi-Fi sign, the house rules sign and the first line of the arrival message. The welcome guidebook generator and the Wi-Fi sign and QR code generator take the name as their first field, and the house rules generator prints it on the sign.
- Register it only if you trade under it. Naming a listing requires nothing. If the name will appear on invoices or a bank account, ask your county clerk or your state's business filing office what they expect.
Once the name is set, the free welcome booklet template and the Canva welcome book guide show where it goes on paper.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good name for a beach house?
Two or three words. One places the house on the coast, such as a tide or a dune. The other is yours alone. It should fit in an Airbnb title under 50 characters with one amenity after it. No neighbor should already be using it on Airbnb, on Vrbo or on Google.
Should I name my Airbnb?
Yes, if you want guests to find you again without the platform. Airbnb's published ranking factors do not include the title, so the name will not move you up the results on its own. It earns clicks, wishlist saves and the Google search a happy guest runs a year later.
Can I put the property name in my Airbnb title?
Yes. Airbnb's guidelines ask for a title under 50 characters, without all caps, emojis or repeated symbols. They also advise against repeating the city or the bed count already shown in search. A two-word name leaves room for one amenity after it.
How long should an Airbnb title be?
Fewer than 50 characters, in Airbnb's own words. Longer titles are cut in search results to fit smaller screens, so anything past that point is never read on a phone. Count the name, the comma and the amenity together.
What makes a vacation rental name memorable?
A concrete image a guest can picture, an easy spelling and one surprise. "Half Past High Tide" does all three. Filler adjectives do none of this. Cozy, charming or stunning describe thousands of listings. Our listing analyzer marks them down.
Do I need to register my vacation rental name?
Not to use it as a listing title. If the name goes on your invoices, your state or your county may expect a trade name filing. Ask your county clerk or your state's business filing office. Run the words through the USPTO's trademark search to see whether a company already claims them. This is not legal advice.
